I've been carrying both of these (yes, it's 2 tracks!) around in my head since 2007. I've never tried to play them so I had to learn the chords to record them! These are the openers for The Cattery Aquarium album. Snippets Surrounding Songs is the Suggestion.
The opening section (Lit) I snatched in a graduate literature course at K-State. I wanted it to sound as much 1800s as 1900s, with the outro a capella like it came off the 1968 soundtrack of the film Where Eagles Dare. The textbook noted that unlike Britain, American literature doesn't organize its literary periods around political figures, which would have resulted in designations like Literature in the Time of Millard Fillmore. I laughed out loud and wanted to start a punk rock band by that name on the spot.
The acapella outro is something that we played around with circa 2012 in The Static Octopus.
The second track Demons is lyrically if not musically darker.
