Written in the early 2000s by Mike Koehn and Dan Hutt, with rhythm tracks recording taking place in Daniel Christian's Tecumseh, NE living room a few years later and then abandoned until 2022. Baking the original reel to reel tapes for preservation during digital transfer, NSD drummer Scott Schwister and Dan Hutt have reinitiated recording, and this is the first one completed, coming from the Older side of the album. Scott Schwister drums on this recording, Dan Hutt plays guitars and bass and sings lead vox with Melissa Marinovich and backing vox with Daniel Christian and plays a clever tambourine. Recording finished at The Cattery Aquarium in Lincoln, NE in 2023. The final lyric, "To get back all the time I've lost, I'll have to drive west" from Andy Seeger circa 1995.

Lyrics

"Clothes"

There are almost no clothes stores
left with an eye out for the average Joe.
There are almost no clothes stores
that don't try to make it cool for you to pay to advertise for them.

I like the letters on the cloth, the colored pictures on the thread,
but should we lose the copyright, just call the article by name?

And then I'd have a shirt, and on the front it says "shirt."
And then I'd have some pants, and down the side they'd say "pants."
Shoes left-right, shoes left-right, shoes left-right, shoes left-right.

I only want to see the listings for the bands,
but there's endless, countless pages of new/used car ads,
and my internet connection's all bogged down in vendor shit
so I'll be damned if I will wear some logo on my skin.

I'd even rather fall into the undergrowth of some lush, Hawaiian gear
than advertise Old Navy or the trademark of the year.
I lose myself in leisure shirt, a loud splash across my chest
of flora-fauna cornucopia, kitsch, exotic, under glass.

I blink, almost believe I saw a fish swim 'round the back,
take note the pattern of the garment changes standing on your head.

A Rod Kush wide-open invitation,
gaping flowers fool the bees.
With charge cards, they land upon your shoulders,
suck the pollen from your sleeves.
Shoes left-right, shoes left-right, shoes left-right, shoes left-right.

You can keep the phone calls and the unasked-for mail.
If I need the info, I will let you know.
If I could see around the billboards advertising cheap landscapes,
"to get back all the time I've lost, I'll have to drive west."
